Week 9
Space + Art
While looking into Space Art, I stumbled upon a fascinating video that introduced me to the incredibly talented artist Eyal Gever. Eyal Gever is a celebrated contemporary artist, who skillfully merges art and technology in his captivating creations. Through the innovative use of code, Gever crafts realistic digital simulations. In a groundbreaking collaboration back in 2018, Gever had the honor of working alongside NASA's Made In Space, Inc. on a truly remarkable project. Their joint endeavor aimed to create the first-ever artwork produced in the vast expanse of space. Leveraging the power of cutting-edge 3D printing technology, Gever conceptualized and crafted a masterpiece called "Laugh." What makes this artwork truly extraordinary is that it was fabricated using a sound simulation of crowd laughter. The collaboration between Gever and Made In Space reflects a shared vision of a future where humanity not only explores space but also thrives in it. Gever eloquently captured this sentiment when he expressed, "Creating art and culture in space is equally as important as sending out people and the technology to support them" (Gever).

Hi Sofia, zero gravity is definitely an interesting topic to learn more about. It has always intrigued me on how it works and if it actually makes you feel and look like what it does on videos. Eyal Gever is really a great example of space art as she has some amazing work, including her project that she was fortunate enough to work with NASA with. Some thing that intrigued me the most about this week was the ability of artist to help scientists further there understanding of space by their use of artwork.
